About Jordan Stein Photography:
I specialize in on-location photography of children, including infants, toddlers, big kids, and families, including portraits, candids and events. I also work with adults for a variety of sessions, including maternity and engagement sessions. My photoshoots are fun and relaxed and the result is natural and gorgeous images.
I also photograph a variety of events, both small and large, indoor and outdoor.
Based in Mountain View, CA, I primarily work in the surrounding area - Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Los Altos, Sunnyvale, and Cupertino - but also travel throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

I am a full time stay at home dad to a 5 year old girl, 3 year old boy, and 7 year old dog. I am around children and their parents all day long. This helps me connect with families to help them relax and have fun, without feeling the pressure of a photoshoot. I understand that not all people, little and big, will be ready for photos from the minute the session begins; I also understand that children have unique needs and may not be able to be on top of their game for an entire session. So, I always go with the flow of the moment, customizing my approach to keep everyone relaxed and engaged, while still getting all the candid and portrait shots you want and expect.
During my photoshoots, I am always shooting. I'm never standing around and watching. Even when I'm joking with an adult or letting a kid chase me, my shutter is always going. It is common for me to take 800-1200 photos in a single 1 hour session. The same is true for events, such as co-ed bridal showers or parties.
I have an extensive understanding of natural light and how to maximize it to obtain studio quality lighting from just the sun. I also have a strong understanding of flash photography and how/when to use it, with the goal of maintaining beautiful and natural shots, whether indoors or out. I am able to seamlessly apply photoshop adjustments for almost every request, ranging from from editing wrinkles, whitening teeth, removing shiny spots, removing items from images (e.g. people, trash cans), and body image adjustments. I have made a significant investment in professional equipment, from the camera body, to lenses, to flashes.
Rates:
Rates include travel and editing time and the talent of the photographer. Rates are all-inclusive, meaning you will receive ALL quality images from the shoot, fully edited and in high resolution, via Dropbox. There is no upper limit on the number of images you may receive. You will not have to pay additional fees per image or for retouching. I do not offer printing services. A 50% retainer is required to book a session with the balance due at the time of the session. Payments accepted via PayPal, check, and cash.
Standard Rate: $650 for 1 hour; $1200 for 2 hours
Travel Fee: For travel exceeding 1 hour (round trip), I charge $50/hour, rounded up to the next full hour. For example, if I were to spend 1.5 hours in the car round trip, the travel fee would be $100.
Events / Additional People: The rates above are for a standard family shoot including up to 6 people. Above that, I reserve the right to charge an additional fee based on the nature and scope of the requested work.
Photo Session Deliverable:
I will provide you with all quality shots I get, typically 50 pictures for a 60 min session, but can exceed 100. Please keep in mind the number of pictures I can take depends on the behavior of the children, outfit changes, etc. All images provided will be high resolution with personal print release and printable up to 11x14 (although I can go higher as you need it). Turn around time is up to 4 weeks, but I will try to get them to you as quickly as possible; typical delivery is 1-2 weeks.
